etisalat UAE and United Arab Emirates University have signed a five-year framework for joint research, innovation and training, the two sides said in Abu Dhabi on 27 October.
The deal has three tracks: research and testbeds, talent, and support for the university. Named fields include artificial intelligence, telecommunications and next-generation networks, smart mobility, digital transformation, cybersecurity, data science, sustainability and health technologies.
From the lab to a live network
Under the research track, the partners will run applied projects and shared testbeds so teams can try new tools on live conditions, not only in a laboratory. Separate agreements will set the scope of each project.
Students are offered internships, capstone projects and graduate roles. Faculty can take part in lectures, secondments and joint supervision. Ali AlMansoori, group chief people and culture officer at etisalat, said the point is to put students in front of live networks and unsolved problems while they are still studying.
